That's the 'royal we'!
Make It! workshops are devised and delivered
by artist, graphic designer and big kid, Claire Yeoman. Well, you can’t be creative without unleashing your fun-loving, inner-child, can you?
CLAIRE LOVES INVENTING projects for you, but she’s even happier when you use them to bring your own ideas to life. She loves making cool stuff and gets a kick from knowing she made it from scratch (and recycled all sorts of materials), instead of buying it. She doesn’t expect youngsters to be excited by her projects unless she is too.
CLAIRE ALSO LOVES that her Make It! projects become a lasting record of youngsters’ unique styles. They’re a celebration of their favourite stuff, hobbies, youthful designs, doodles and dreams… She’s confident that when you’ve finally finished wearing it, watching it, or playing with it, it will go in your ‘happy memories’ trunk. Yes, she’ll go as far as saying, it might just become a family heirloom.
BEFORE LAUNCHING MAKE IT! Claire studied Art and Creative Writing for Young People at Bath Spa University, worked at King Rollo Films and mooched around the southern hemisphere picking peaches and swimming with crocodiles. Claire’s very glad that most of the things she did before have helped her wrestle with the running of Make It!, especially the swimming with crocodiles.
DESPITE HAVING IMAGINARY FRIENDS, Claire currently runs Make It! on her own. She’s very proud of Make It! and there’s not one part of it she doesn’t love doing. But she does dream of employing some well paid, talented Oompa Loompas or Minions one day soon.
CLAIRE BETS that your favourite things will appear somewhere in the Make it! workshop pages, but if they don’t, let her know and she’ll do her best to create a new workshop for you. Because that’s what she does at Make it! It’s what gets her out of bed in the morning.
